Blubberings from a little bug named Lainey

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Today was my first day of preschool, and it was a great day! I walked very confidently, but quietly, into my classroom, and my sweet teacher, Mrs. Christine, welcomed me in. It was a great day with no tears at all!

Here I am with my backpack on ready to go!

Here I am learning how to walk in a line from my classroom to recess.

Here are all of the kids in my class.

And here I am dancing to Wiggly Woo. What a fun day! And many more fun Tuesday and Thursday mornings are to come!

Here is the finished product! If my mom would let me, I would stay out here all day long. Its definitely a 'hit', so all of my dad's work putting it together was not in vain ;)

Today, I turned 3 years old. To celebrate, I'm going to let you into my little 3 year old world by listing some of the things that I, Lainey Meredith Ragland, talk about at least once a day as of August 20, 2007:
my swingset
my birthday
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
any song from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Savannah Smith
cheese (string, sliced, cubed, shredded - I like it all)
going to school
"I don't have to" (my new favorite phrase)
the weather
wearing a dress
Curious George and the Train (from the Curious George story book)
anything that smells
John Stanley
popcycles (aka ice on a stick)
and last but not least...
my forever faithful and infamous Bunny Blanket!

Oh, the simple life of a 3 year old! I have 364 more days to enjoy this wonderfully sweet age! Happy Birthday to me...

Dad and Gramps spent all weekend working on my brother and my new swingset.
First, they tore down the fence and rented a tiller to dig up the dirt.

Then they bought lots of boards and loaded them into a very small Honda. They used the boards to make a box around the play area and to make it level.

I supervised the project all weekend.

Then Mr. Frankie joined in on the fun. I guess he figured since his children will be using it almost as much as me and John Stanley, he'd help out...

Here I am on it this morning.

And this is as far as we've gotten as of today. We still need to finish putting the swingset together, fill in the area with more dirt, put tarp over the dirt, and then put rubber mulch on top. What a project, huh! Dad, Gramps, and Mr. Frankie are the best! And Grandmommy and Granddaddy are the best for giving me and my brother such a great birthday present! I'm so excited about it that I don't ask my mom who's coming to my birthday party anymore; I ask her who's coming to my swingset!

I'm very excited about my upcoming birthday and talk about it every day. However, when someone asks me how old I'm going to be, I very confidently reply, "Six!" I don't know why I want to skip 3, 4, and 5, but my mom does think I look about 6 in this picture.

Savannah and I pretended to be brides today. I even walked around singing a made up song, "I love you". I've been really into brides lately. In fact, the other day, I asked my mom if she was getting married and she told me that she was already married to Daddy. Then I told her that I was getting married. When she asked who I was going to marry, I said, "John Stanley". I mean, who wouldn't want to marry a guy who lets you pour water on his head over and over again?!? Oh, how times will change :)

This game entertained me for probably 10 whole minutes today. John Stanley's such a good sport!
